TENDERLY
20 x 20 ins, acrylic. July 26, 2009. I had no idea where I was going with this canvas when I started it. On introspection, I realized that for many of us(we take it in turn to be the wounded dove), the ups and downs of life seem to be frequent these days and I am refreshed by the compassion we are able to show and share. Inspired after a meeting of minds and hearts in Montreal this week and by other special friends near and far (symbolized in the layers of landscape) who never fail to tug at my heart. This image is now on the front cover of an academic book Mothers, Motherhood & Mothering published by Demeter Press May 2014.

Purples and reds, these are my favorite colours. Am I the one in the centre here? I do like me there. So sorry that I missed your luncheon. Cheryl,I will see you soon however, perhaps at Griffintown.

This painting speaks directly to my heart. Each gesture of the three women, the amazing symbolism in the colors, and the setting in a beautiful natural world come together to show us compassion it its highest form. Thank you for such a heartfelt reminder of our shared humanity.

I love it Cheryl. You are so prolific. I feel guilty. Are they all me or am I one of them, and if so who are the others?

What a painting! I really don't have the words to talk about it. There is a beautiful union and respect for all life that is so clear--in the connectedness of the women, the dove and the landscape. WOW!

I am flattered that you were reminded of me when you were painting it. I would just like to know which one am I? By the way it is very good. Jackie

Cheryl, I love the way your paintings capture so much movement...maybe the musician in you ? And your colors are so much your signature. Thank you for sharing this with me.

My God ! Cheryl, this is so beautiful! I love it and I feel honored. I am moved to tears by what I see in this picture: the peace, the joy and sadness also, in other words the life and the energy passing between these women, I really love it! Now I can't wait to see it in real life! Thank you!!
