16x20 - mixed media. October 20, 2010 Having just returned from a writing retreat in Newfoundland, I was inspired to paint this image of a girl writing her first poem. Many of the participants I met had begun writing when they were very young. The paper bag with author's names beside her was the wrapping from Penguin Books - Stratford, gifted to me by a friend. I think I was supposed to throw it away..... The image is the front cover of the 2011-2012 McGill S.E.D.E. Academic Calendar. Collection: C. Sui.
