20x24 ins, mixed media, September 16, 2011. I very seldom paint men (!) but decided it was time to acknowledge and surround myself with composers who have left a lasting impression on me since I was little and whose work I continue to play at special moments even today.

.....which leaves us to wonder why there were no famous female composers, at least when I was a young girl......... Writer & feminist American art historian Linda Nochlin's explains: " The fault lies not in our stars, our hormones, our menstrual cycles, or our empty internal spaces, but in our institutions and our education --education understood to include everything that happens to us from the moment we enter this world of meaningful symbols, signs, and signals."
