MALALA'S DREAM
16 x 20 ins, mixed media. October 15, 2012. Malala Yousafzi, a 14 year old Pakistani girl, was shot in the head last week by the Taliban as she returned from school. Her only crime was that she propagated education for girls. This painting is a tribute to her courage as well as a prayer that she, Shazia and Kainat, will emerge healthy and triumphant in their crusade to empower young girls with the spoken and written word. If you want to help, send a message on the Amnesty Canada website. See link below painting to read my article.

Your spiritual connection with Malala is so beautiful & honest. Her bravery may indeed be her innocence, which you have lovingly exposed in her eyes,so full of hope and conviction. May she heal fully and thrive in spite of the evil that tries to silence girls around the world. Thank you dear Cheryl.

I wrote a letter to Jim Moran inspired by this painting. I asked him to aid those girls longing fro the same things Malala does, and would not have written the letter the way i had withought this inspiration.

Your painting of Malala is absolutely lovely! I see her role as being really prophetic and her dream, as you portray it is just so bright and beautiful..in the light of the dark forces who have tried to do destroy her.
