Cette lune qui chante - hommage à Gabrielle
48 x 24 ins, acrylic. December 10, 2012. A homage to Quebec writer & feminist, Gabrielle Roy born in Manitoba in 1909 & died in Montreal 1983 - who at one time lived at 4059 Dorchester, adjacent Westmount. The quote which encircles her body reads: "Nous connaîtrions-nous seulement un peu nous-même sans les arts? Could we ever know each other in the slightest without the arts?"is replicated in VERY fine print on our old $20 bill. Sadly, it has been removed this year.

There's something universal about this painting. The eyes of this woman are so clear, so vulnerable, pleading for an understanding, which nature give, unquestioningly! She is a secular goddess, reminding us that each of us without our protective sheaths can be such a woman. I love this painting!
