REVOLT - 2013
16 x 20 ins, July 14, 2013. My response to the Trayvon Martin verdict.

FROM WRITER MARSHA BROWNE: 'I love this painting, Cheryl. The scales of justice tipped against those brown-skinned, faceless women; the wombs papered over with regulations and laws that destroy the lives that emerge from their wombs; the tall tower in the upper left that looms over them, a reminder of the successes denied them by their race and lack of rights; and our mother the moon, full and clear-eyed, shining down on them from such a great distance.'

I was introduced to your activism paintings through a friend starting a local chapter of The Period Project for homeless and low income girls in middle and high school to have access to tampons and personal hygiene products at no cost while at school. Your art inspires women to support one another.
