Alone no More - Plus seule
30 x 40 ins, mixed medium. Completed Jan.21, 2013 - Martin Luther King Day.

I was moved by an interview on Jan. 6, 2013 with Stephen Lewis on CBC radio's The Sunday Edition. I have long admired the work he does, his vision & commitment. The painting is a reflection of the Grandmother's Campaign he started where African grandmothers play a significant and healing role in their communities. They took the initiative to care for millions of children orphaned by AIDS. "These grandmothers display astonishing reserves of love, courage and emotional resilience, even while grieving the loss of their own adult children."

"An individual has not started living until he can RISE above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity." - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
