NAMASTE
24 x 36 ins, acrylic, Feb. 10, 2013. Mehndi, or henna design, is an ancient Vedic custom which is meant to "awaken the inner light." Henna leaves are ground into a paste, then applied to the skin and leave an orange mark which lasts some weeks. It's also very cooling during those stifling hot summers. Nowadays it has gained popularity worldwide with Mehndi Bars opening up in various cities offering the most intricate designs. There are many layers in this painting, testament to the creative struggle involved. I was happy to finally sign it today.
