STARRY NIGHT
30 x 30 ins, acrylic. March 22, 2013. Recently the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts featured THE HISTORY OF IMPRESSIONISM exhibit which I visited several times especially late in the evening when the rooms were almost empty. Some weeks after in Mexico, I collided with 4 eclectic Indian women from Ontario who were on a get-a-way of their own. All this provoked my cultural twist of Monet's 'Women in a Boat'. I hope you can smell with me, the fragrant frangipane in their hair, hear the slurp of the koi fish against the wooden boat and sense the sweet and gentle aura of the night.

I'm quoting Shakespeare (Romeo & Juliet) with a gender change:

" When she shall die, cut her into little stars..And she will make the face of heaven so fine,

that all the world will fall in love with night & pay no worship to the garish sun".
