Atwater Market Melodies/Mélodies du marché Atwater
16 x 20 ins, September 21, 2013. The public pianos sprouting up all over Montreal are the nicest thing that happened this summer. I discovered the one at the Atwater Market right beside the Lachine Canal and have played there every day weather permitting. The joy it brings is beyond description; to evoke melodies under the trees & the breeze, the sun and the full moon, to meet & converse with passers-by, hear them sing and even dance, teach me new Quebecois songs, feed me fresh corn with butter and see their faces light up, is all quite magical. This painting captures some of the magic. Merci à tous ceux qui me laissent un sourire !
