The Pumpkin Lady - femme aux citrouilles
16x20 ins, mixed medium, November 1, 2014. Sometimes my weekend breakfast ritual at the Atwater market gets especially inspiring. Here is one I couldn't resist to go with my poem "Au marché Atwater" chosen for the Canadian Unitarian Fall issue, with the last verse excerpted here. You can tell I've also been visiting the latest Impressionist to Expressionist exhibit at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts

"The pumpkin lady sits alone humming an orange tune, lost in planets of fire.

I dreamed of her last night with her distorted mandalas, Her yings and yangs that once showed me the way.

Now, perched precariously, she heralds the passing of time. A journey all too soon,

to a snowy, frosty, creamy Pisarro landscape."

May the accolades coming in from around the world uplift your spirits and bring you wellness, just as your brush continues to bring hope and courage to others, hungry and in deep need of it.
