Deevali Festival of Lights
20 x 24 - Acrylic on canvas - Hindus celebrate Diwali, the Festival of Lights, this week on November 9. In Hinduism, darkness represents ignorance, and light is a metaphor for knowledge. Therefore, lighting a lamp symbolizes the destruction, through knowledge, of all negative forces- anger, lust, envy, violence, greed, bigotry, fear, hatred, injustice, oppression and suffering. Her breathing directs the flame - as we direct our lives. In solidarity, may I ask that you too light a lamp with me today.... Collection: J.G. Lavigne & Julie Fortin
